With 27 residence halls grouped into five neighborhoods, there’s a place for everyone to call home. In fact, 99% of the first-year class lives on campus and a second-year on-campus requirement was also recently reinstated.
Staying on campus proves to be a smart move. National research shows that students who live on campus are more academically successful and more connected to the campus community. Plus, with everything included (even laundry), it’s a good value for your green and white dollar.

Eat at State
Ranked the No. 1 college and university dining program in the nation (FoodService Director, 2020), MSU makes deciding what to eat — from fresh sushi to locally-sourced fare — the biggest challenge.
Spartans can use their dining plan at more than 30 locations across campus, from full-service dining halls to express cafes and food courts. There's always a dining option open any time of day (or night).
Each dining facility offers a variety of selections, including menu items to support ovo-lacto vegetarian and vegan diets. Students with food allergies or intolerances and those with dietary restrictions will have resources and information to help make safe choices while still having a great dining experience. Students needing further support can visit the Culinary Services website and contact dietitians for additional information.
